The Amish up here aren't super cozy either, but they've been very helpful to us. Their bishop and harness-maker get us a wood stove made by an Amish stovemaker in Ohio. We just got the heating size but the locals use his Ashland cook stoves that he makes. And the lady at the Farmer's Market is always happy to chat. I love her baked goods. The directions were given to me by one of the Amish ladies who sells at the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. It was down maybe 205th Street (?) and there's no sign. You have to just figure it out by the last name on the mailbox. I'm sorry I can't be more help but I would have your friend ask the Amish folks in town. They will know. I will say I have heard of a much bigger shop not far away in Deerfield, MO but I haven't been over there yet. And if an hour's drive isn't daunting, there a gigantic, fully supplied Amish store in Windsor, MO. That one is amazing.Allison Dey Malacariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10581900166979459948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790990372963930245.post-68177771909540267832022-04-14T11:10:16.502-05:002022-04-14T11:10:16.502-05:00what's the address to this place??? Is there a large Amish community then near you? I relate to the way they live a lot because I've always lived rather simply: no TV, clothesline, simple clothing (in my own way). I do like to eat out though as I'm rather lazy in the kitchen and those sandwiches sound wonderful! :-)Allison Dey Malacariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10581900166979459948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790990372963930245.post-45794016471245482382017-08-02T09:19:32.338-05:002017-08-02T09:19:32.338-05:00Absolutely. Where I live, people still sit on the porch and do "nothing" sometimes. It's a lovely summer feeling that reminds me of when I was a child.Allison Dey Malacariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10581900166979459948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790990372963930245.post-24142668221077676502017-08-02T09:12:24.875-05:002017-08-02T09:12:24.875-05:00The last picture looks just like the row of bulk s...The last picture looks just like the row of bulk spices portioned out at our local Amish run grocery store. Ours sell the bulk items along with some scratch and dent items and some others just past their suggested sell by date. They also have a fantastic little deli counter with Walnut Creek meats and cheeses. I can buy a huge handmade sandwich for $3. The store is a gem.Beulahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03641058191008915966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790990372963930245.post-70012002642883210812017-08-01T10:03:45.398-05:002017-08-01T10:03:45.398-05:00There is a lot to be said for a simple life. There is a lot to be said for a simple life.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04645682764289982809noreply@blogger.com
